On our trip to Maine in May we stayed at many beautiful inns and hotels, but this one stood out because of its excellence in every aspect: the room, the food, the location, and the dog friendly amenities. We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Captain Jefferds Inn. The breakfast was delicious--fresh fruit with sorbet, popovers with blueberry preserves, and cheesy chicken. The room pictured above is the camden room, unfortunately it's not a dog friendly room. My favorite room is the lovely terrace room, which has french doors looking out onto the terrace and garden. The shops and restaurants of Kennebunkport are all within walking distance of the inn. We also walked Becky, our miniature dachshund, to a small beach right after we got settled.
Filmed in and around different different parts of New York, Stepmom, has a been a favorite movie of mine mainly because of the gorgeous home and awesome vehicle (Land Rover Discovery). This home, which can be seen at the end of the video, is in Nyack, New York. The charming restaurant that Jackie and Isabel eat at in the movie, The '76 House, is another must see if you're in the area.
Anita's townhouse was always one of my favorite parts of the movie, 101 Dalmatians. I wanted to find a hotel that would reflect that charming and relaxed feel that her London townhouse had. I found that at the Egerton House Hotel in Knightsbridge.
Featured in Travel & Leisure magazine, the Mill House Inn is located in East Hampton, New York. The historic village of East Hampton is within walking distance of the inn. This dog friendly inn is every cottage lover's dream vacation accommodation! I love the beautiful pedestal sinks and beadboard in the luxurious bathrooms! Add the Mill House Inn to your list of inns to visit this year; it's the perfect place no matter what the season!
Located near Greenville, Maine, the Moose River Escape looks like the perfect Maine cabin. Its rustic simplicity is what everyone looks for in an escape to the Moosehead Lake Region. The old-fashioned cabin has exposed beams, wood paneling, and pine flooring.
The Little Dipper Cottage is a cozy yet spacious 1870s seaside cottage. It was completely renovated and has frontage on a small private cove. The cottage is surrounded by water on three sides. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the water while relaxing on the swing in the screened-in front porch. A second story open deck overlooks the southern view of pointed spruce covered islands and expansive glistening water. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are located just 1/2 a mile from the cottage.
